Setting Your Own Self Improvement Goals

Setting Your Own Self Improvement Goals

If you are not happy with how your life is going, you should not settle. In fact, you should be strong enough to refuse the lowly state of your existence so that you can live a better life. You should never settle nor compromise your future, because something can be done. You can work on improving yourself and making something out of yourself. It is not going to be easy to improve the quality of your life, but you can always make things simpler by setting yourself a definite goal.

Goal setting

A lot of people live their lives without direction or purpose. The lack of direction is because people have no goals set, for themselves yet, so they are heading to no particular direction, like a headless chicken, without rhyme or reason. If you want a successful life, you should you should give your life some purpose and direction.

How to set goals for your life

If you are determined to set goals for yourself, you should know how to make good goals for yourself. Here are some rules you can follow:

·        Write down your goals. So that you will be constantly reminded about what you have to do and where you have to go, take some time to write them down so that you will have a list to refer to from time to time. You can choose to keep them in places that you can always see. You put it on your computer desktop, you can keep it on your mirror, and you can have it on your worktable, and keep it in your car. Determine your goals and give yourself a means to remind yourself about it, so that you will not lose your way.

·        Be clear about your goals. When you set your goals you should make sure that it is clear. Know what you want to achieve and do not beat around the bush. Do not waste your time on trying to make things so elaborate. Ask yourself what it is you want to achieve in life and make it your goal to keep it within your grasp.

·        Breakdown your goals. You may have an ultimate and this one should be your end point. To be able to make the journey more fruitful, you can break down your entire course in such a way so that you can achieve smaller goals that will eventually lead to the completion of something bigger and more significant. It is less grueling when you do it this way. Trying to accomplish a big goal is going to be hard, but if you break your goals into smaller sections, you will just surprise yourself one day, and realize that you have already arrived where you

·        Make them realistic. Write goals that are attainable. It is good to dream and to stretch your imagination, a little, but make sure that you goals are not impossible. Make sure that you are physically, mentally and emotionally capable of achieving it. There is no point in wasting time on something that you can never accomplish, anyway.

·        Keep your focus. Once you have established your goals, make sure to keep your focus on it and do not allow yourself to stray away. Move forward, even if the road is rough and treacherous.
