Taking Risks and Achieving Bigger Things

Taking Risks and Achieving Bigger Things

Have you ever felt the urge to do something great? Have you ever thought of signing up for a skydiving event and plunging into oblivion, but you could not get over your fear, so you never took the opportunity? Have you always had a great idea that you wanted to try, but you are afraid to make mistakes? Do you have dreams for yourself that you cannot wait to come true, but you are kept from taking that first step towards it because you do not want to risk anything?

The Rewards of Taking Risks

It is not easy to take risks and it is not easy to gamble through life, but there is some good about going over boundaries and going out of your comfort zone. There is something good about choosing to be brave and stretching yourself, to a possible limit, because this way you can see your full potential and gain a new appreciation of yourself. There are such things as calculated risks and if you are careful, these risks will not be risks at all. It is taking a risk that can lead to a fortunate gain; and it is a risk that will always be worth taking. By taking risks, however small, you will begin to feel stronger. Every time you succeed to accomplish one task, you will see yourself grow.

Getting Started

The hardest part about taking risks is getting started. Once you take that first step, you will already be free falling down, so it is important that you know how to start. Threat and fear disables a person to move, and it makes it harder for them to break free. To be able to take that plunge, therefore, you can consider trying the following tips:

·         Decide on which risks to take. There are dangerous risks and there are calculated risks. There are big ones and small ones. If you are just getting things started, you can try to accomplish simpler things that will get you the feel of it.

·         Know what you want. You will have people who will have stuff to say to you and they will discourage you from moving forward. It is important for you to know what you want and have a firm commitment to this goal you want to achieve so that no one can influence your decisions and you will never lose your way or change your mind. It is also going to be a bad idea to take a risk only because someone has pressured you to do it. If you should take a risk, take it because you want to do it and not because someone else said you should do it.

·         Keep going. You will encounter roadblocks along the way, and you will feel like quitting. You have to remember that this is part of it all, and you just have to be brave enough to shake it all off and keep going. Face the fear like you do not fear anything and do not falter at the first sign of roadblock your encounter.

·         Do it now. There is no use taking so much time and putting things off to the very last minute. If you want to do something, you have to do it without delay. Do not waste your time and do not procrastinate. Do not prolong the grief anymore, just do it and make things happen.

Taking Control of Your Life

Taking Control of Your Life

Are you in control of your life? Are you the type of person who takes the driver’s seat and refuses to let anyone take control, or are you the person who loves to comfortably sit on the passenger seat? Are you a spectator or an action man? Are you a leader or a follower? Your life is yours to live and no one else should have the power to tell you how you should live your life.

The Importance of Taking Control

It is normal for people to lose control of things, from time to time. There are things that happen in a person’s life and this causes them to lose focus. Problems and emotional stress, usually takes people out of focus. Their emotional dilemma is much too big for them to handle, so they just succumb. Having control over your life is very important, though. By being in control, you firmly assert that you are the boss and you are in charge. You become responsible for your actions and you will find no need to blame anyone and regret anything.

How to Take Control

Taking control of your life is more than just getting a firm grip on things. It is more than holding on and not letting go. It is proactively doing something to be able to gain authority and you do this by following these:

·         Being more self-aware: To be able to gain control over your life, you need to get to know yourself first. Many people lose control over their lives because they are not really fully acquainted with their capabilities, their strengths and their weaknesses, well enough to utilize them. By being more self-aware, you open yourself up to opportunities that you may have neglected in the past.

·         Finding the right motivation: Your motivation is your reason for doing things and when you are motivated to do something, you are unstoppable. Find the right motivation so that you will be powerful enough to conquer your goals.

·         Taking action: You can plan all you want, you can conceptualize triumph, but if you do not actively do something about it, it is pointless. Take full control by taking that definite step to do something about your life.

·         Having self-discipline: When you decide to take control of your life, you have to instill the right discipline. Do not quit even if it is becoming too difficult for you to handle. Do not falter, even if you are feeling powerless to move on. Struggles will come along the way, but you have to refuse to succumb to failure. You have to have the discipline to see things through, not because you have to but because you want to.

Gain control over your life because it is yours to take over. Eventually, you will realize that many people will try to overcome you, but you should be assertive and show them that you are in control. Your life is yours to lead. No one should have control over how your life is supposed to go, but you.

Surviving After a Failure

Surviving After a Failure

You are only human after all, and as one, you are definitely not infallible. Some people forget this and when things go wrong, they beat themselves up, but it really should not be the case. People make mistakes because they are not machines that can be programmed to perfection. People commit errors and as one, you are entitled to commit a few in your life, but you should not allow such downfalls to destroy you.

Why Things Fail

People fail because of different reasons, such as:

·        Some people fail because of others. They could have entrusted a task to someone and this person failed to deliver, or this person could have deliberately caused for the task to fail, on the account of the other.
·        Some people fail because of their insufficiencies. These insufficiencies could be caused by a physical, emotional or mental incapacity. A person may be incapable to continue because they do not have the ability and the power to do so. If you do not have the skill, you cannot go on or if you still do, your incapacities can cause you to fall.
·        Some people fail because of an accident. These are things that are not supposed to happen; a miscalculation and misstep. These are not exactly expected but they happen all the time.

Do Not Blame Yourself

The common reaction after a failure, as soon as the effects have finally settled, is to put blame, and people usually put blame on themselves. It is normal. People blame themselves for all the things that go wrong, even if they are not directly responsibility for it going wrong. By blaming themselves they are unable to escape back to their realities and are, instead, forced to dwell and reminisce on what they have done wrong and what they were unable to do. Failures can haunt people and it can bring catastrophic results to anyone but you have to understand that people fail all the time and the only way to deal with failures is to know how to take yourself away from it, so that you can move on with your life.

Dealing with Failures

It is not easy to deal with a failure, especially those that have the true potential to ruin you. However, you have to understand that you cannot spend your life dwelling on things that have already happened, but you can pick your life and turn things around. You can go from being at the bottom of the pit, to at the top of the highest tower, if you will only let yourself. Move on and let go of what happened in the past. There are some things, in life, that you will not have any control of and you have to accept that they can happen any time. Instead of letting things consume you, you have to find a way to move away from what has happened so that you can turn things around.

Steps to Self-Realization in the Modern World

Steps to Self-Realization in the Modern World

There comes a time in everyone’s life where they need to have the self-realization that they can do just about anything if they put their minds to it. Now, this may seem like a pipe dream for some people, but there is a strong sense of accomplishment when you realize that you can do anything, especially things that will bring you success in life. Of course, there are a lot of people out there that have a hard time gaining the self-realization they need to be the person they have always dreamt of being but can't put the effort into getting started.

Now, there are some people out there that will tell you that positive visualization and thinking will give you what you need to realize that you are a decent person and the sky is the limit. That works for a lot of people out there, the ones that have the time to sit comfortably in a dimly lit room with incense and candles meditating on the things they would like to have happen or change in their lives. So what about the rest of the population that have no dimly lit room, no incense, no candles, and no time to meditate?

The best thing you can do to find self-realization is to act positively to as many people as you possibly can during your daily routine. Yes, there are going to be those people out there that will test your limits and instead of yelling, screaming, cursing, or bashing them in the head with a stick, you will need to think on the positive side. How do you do that with those people? Simple; think of how great it is that you are not one of those people and no one wants to smack you on a regular basis.
If you can manage to make it through at least one week of thinking and acting positively towards the people around you, even the ones you would prefer not to, then there is a very good chance that the positive thinking will accumulate into the self-realization that you are actually a good person. When you start believing that you are a good person, then you will start to see good things happen to you in your life. After that, it’s just a hop, skip, and a jump over to the fact that you can do anything you put your mind to.

If you feel like you are going to be stressed out from being nice to all these people on a daily basis, then you need to find a hobby that you can release that stress with. This should be something a bit aggressive as far as your energy goes. Putting together model ships in a bottle will only aggravate you and cause you frustration at this point. Look more towards the shooting range, boxing, martial arts, or aspects that will give you a physical exhaustion point that will make you too tired to deal with other people’s attitudes. Then, you will be as happy as you have ever been and will flourish in your life.

Steps to Building Self-Confidence

Steps to Building Self-Confidence

Self-confidence is something that everyone needs to get through life successfully and happily. When you lack the confidence you need, other people pick up on it quickly. This makes them pass you by for many things such as promotions, dates, and party invitations. In fact, it’s almost like you’re invisible because you do nothing that makes you stand out from the pack. Rather, you fade into the woodwork. There are ways, however, to build up your self-confidence and the more you practice the following steps, the faster you’ll become more positively noticed.

·        Emphasize your strengths and downplay your weaknesses:   Self-confidence begins inside you so you must focus on everything that makes you a great person. Leave the past completely in the past and focus on the future. Make a list of 10 things you find positive about yourself. Then give yourself the credit you deserve for these traits.

·        Always remember past successes: Now, write down all of the successes that you’ve enjoyed in life. Remember how each one made you feel. These will amp up your confidence so that you can look to future successes waiting for you.

·        Conquer your shyness and take a gamble: You can choose to let your life pass you by or you could choose to get out and live. Everyone needs challenges in life. These present a way to feel good about yourself each time you beat a challenge. When you take a gamble on something, you understand that you can be successful in anything you try. Even when you feel you’ve failed, you’ll come away with a lesson, and that makes you a winner.

·        Build self-control: Refuse to listen to any little voice telling you that you’re going to fall on your face. That little voice is wrong and you need the self-control to put it where it deserves to be. No one’s perfect and you don’t need to be, either. Even if you make a mistake, as long as you’ve learned something from it, you still experienced a kind of success. Mistakes are for learning. So as long as you take away some knowledge from your mistakes, you’ll start gaining more self-confidence.

·        Visualize your successes: You can attain success in things much easier when you’re able to visualize it beforehand. See yourself in the situation you’re going to be facing. Watch as you make the right decisions, take the best actions and bring about the successful ending that you desire.  Even those highly confident people that you run into from time to time use this type of visualization to bring the things they want into their lives. When you can SEE yourself bringing about what you want most in your life, you can make it happen. The more successes that you bring to yourself the more your confidence will build.

Take some time to practice these tips daily and you’ll begin noticing the level of your self-confidence increasing a bit more each time. Once you’ve attained this much needed confidence, you’ll see the change in the way others view you. It will become quite obvious that they see you as a self-confident person no matter which room you walk into.

Six Self Confidence Boosters

Six Self Confidence Boosters

Confidence is the intangible weapon that helps people win life’s battles. The inner weapon that most people rely on is confidence. Truly, self-confidence is a very simple yet powerful quality that can break through barriers for those who possess it.

Developing Your Self Confidence

Some people have too much of self confidence but others have very little. If you do not have enough, it is important that you find a way to develop your own self-confidence.

·        Improve your self-esteem: You can improve your self-esteem through different ways. The easiest way is to begin counting and recognizing the good things in your life. Count your blessings and not your insufficiencies. Recalling all of your accomplishments is also a good thing. When you constantly remind yourself of the things that you are great with, you will gain more confidence in yourself.

·        Look good, feel good: They always say that if you look good, you will feel good about yourself and everything else will fall into its right place. Your image says so much about you. Your posture and your command will dictate your persona; and your choice of clothing will be your defining coat of arms. If you are fond of clothes that are dull and drab, then you will be dull and drab, as well.

·        Overcome your shyness: To overcome shyness, you have to overcome your fears, which is usually the root of it all. Once you have pinpointed the root cause, you can address them accordingly. Shyness can be overcome. If you are afraid of people, force yourself to be amongst people.

Effective Self-Confidence Boosters

Transformation is not easily achieved; it is worked for and the work is not going to be easy. When a runner sets himself up for a race, he equips himself with energy boosters that he can quickly take in, when he is almost out of it. Exhaustion is part of the race and losing control over your life is part of living this very complicated existence. To be able to cope with all of it, you will need to refer to some self-confidence boosters that you just need a dose of, and for sure, you will become more confident about yourself.

1.      Imagine yourself as someone with power. Picture yourself at the acme of your dreams and do not give yourself limits. As long as you can think it, then it is possible. Your vision will keep you going along the way.

2.      Do not be afraid to take risks. Be brave and take the challenges even if your failure is inevitable.

3.      Do not be afraid to go out of the ordinary. Try something spontaneous and see how it goes from there.

4.      Give yourself a pat on the back for every great thing you are able to accomplish.

5.      Whisper sweet nothings to yourself. If this technique works on couples and on little children, this should work on you, as well.

6.      Speak up for yourself and for what you believe in. Do not allow yourself to be pushed over. Try speaking up and you will realize how amazing it will feel.

Signs That You Lack Self Confidence and What You Can Do About It

Signs That You Lack Self Confidence and What You Can Do About It

Self-confidence is the specific drive that brings people to greater heights. People, who are not blessed with the skills, are able to get to the top because they feel and believe that they can do it. Self-confidence is an invisible motivational drive that will make things happen and turn the impossible into a possibility. Self-confidence empowers people beyond their expectations, and if you lack self-confidence, then you are taking away your chance to go the distance.
Signs That You are Lacking Self-Confidence

Are you worried that you may be lacking in confidence? Perhaps you have been given the chance to compare the way you deal with things, and the way other people carry themselves. Maybe you are worried because they seem to have more bravado than you, and you are wondering why the invisible power they have allowed them to do more and be more.
Here are sure signs of a lack of self-confidence. If you think you fit into these criteria, it may be smart to address the situation, right away:

·        Being on the strong defensive after receiving a criticism: People who have low self-confidence are insecure and too worried about what people may think about them. Criticism is a confirmation of all the things that they have already built-up in their heads. People who are confident about themselves will know how to handle all kinds of criticism, be it a good one or a bad one.

·        They overcompensate: Some people show their insecurities by giving out declarations of indifference or false confidence. They make declarations of being “very happy”, “truly satisfied”, and try to convince other people that they are all right.

·        Justifying their actions too much: People who are confident will never feel the need to explain their decisions and actions. People who lack self-confidence often seek approval and so they tend to explain the action they decide to take.

·        Too apologetic: It is polite and normal to apologize for something wrong that you have done but you should not apologize like there is no tomorrow. Say sorry, once, and then leave it. Apologizing too much is a sign of lack of self-confidence because it is an indication of wanting and needing approval.

Gaining the Right Confidence

It is important for you to realize how important self-confidence is, because it is more than just the power and ability to say, “Yes I can”. Often times, it is one’s confidence that makes the impossible possible. Many people have been told “no” many times before, but they go to the top, just by believing that they can.

Overcoming Lack of Self Confidence

The truth is this, the quicker that you are able to deal with your problem, the better. Lack of self-confidence can be crippling, and if you were able to develop your confidence for your benefit, it would be truly advantageous for you. Self-confidence can be enhanced through practicing self-affirmations. You can also make a habit of counting your blessings instead of your failures because there is no point in wallowing in what is never going to bring you any good.

Setting Your Priorities Right

Setting Your Priorities Right

Everyone has things to do. People have different tasks to fulfill and while there are some who successfully complete all of the things that they have on their list, a bigger portion of the population deal with uncompleted tasks. People have so much to do, that they do not know how to do everything. Things that seem important overcome them and they no longer know where to put their focus on.

Prioritizing

Prioritizing is the act of determining which things are important, and giving them extra attention. You choose to put certain things on the top because you are trying to meet a deadline, or because you believe that they deserve to be done first. The practice of prioritizing is really more than just putting things on top of the other; it is strategically planning your life, so that you are able to accomplish more. People have the tendency to procrastinate. People who have no direction go on aimlessly with their lives, without realizing what they are doing wrong.  Prioritizing gives your life direction and purpose.

Importance of Prioritizing

It is normal for people to not know how important it is to prioritize the things that they have to do. It is not easy to do things that you have to do, because the mind usually has the tendency to favor tasks that are easier and less complicated. It does not matter if these are important or truly useless for their lives; they will choose to do them because they feel comfortable doing so. However, it is necessary for one to realize how important it is to know how to prioritize, because it helps keep things organized.

How to Set Your Priorities

Recognizing the need to prioritize things will be the first step to doing it. But if you really want to learn how to prioritize, it will be helpful if you follow these tips:

·        Identify your goals. Take some time to ask yourself what you really want to achieve in life. People who are unable to prioritize usually do not have goals. Take some time to ask yourself what you want to achieve and make sure to take the exact steps that will help you get to where you need to be.

·        Maintain some balance. When you are trying to set your priorities, make sure that you are able to maintain some balance in your life. Do not focus so much on one priority. Make sure to give time and attention to the different things in your life that need to be fixed, so that you do not leave any of them neglected.

·        Measure your strengths and weaknesses. Aim to fulfill as much as you can but accept that there is a limit to the things that you can do. There are only 24 hours in a day and you should not be too hard on yourself about achieving all your goals for the day. What is important is that you are continuously fulfilling goals.

Setting Your Own Self Improvement Goals

Setting Your Own Self Improvement Goals

If you are not happy with how your life is going, you should not settle. In fact, you should be strong enough to refuse the lowly state of your existence so that you can live a better life. You should never settle nor compromise your future, because something can be done. You can work on improving yourself and making something out of yourself. It is not going to be easy to improve the quality of your life, but you can always make things simpler by setting yourself a definite goal.

Goal setting

A lot of people live their lives without direction or purpose. The lack of direction is because people have no goals set, for themselves yet, so they are heading to no particular direction, like a headless chicken, without rhyme or reason. If you want a successful life, you should you should give your life some purpose and direction.

How to set goals for your life

If you are determined to set goals for yourself, you should know how to make good goals for yourself. Here are some rules you can follow:

·        Write down your goals. So that you will be constantly reminded about what you have to do and where you have to go, take some time to write them down so that you will have a list to refer to from time to time. You can choose to keep them in places that you can always see. You put it on your computer desktop, you can keep it on your mirror, and you can have it on your worktable, and keep it in your car. Determine your goals and give yourself a means to remind yourself about it, so that you will not lose your way.

·        Be clear about your goals. When you set your goals you should make sure that it is clear. Know what you want to achieve and do not beat around the bush. Do not waste your time on trying to make things so elaborate. Ask yourself what it is you want to achieve in life and make it your goal to keep it within your grasp.

·        Breakdown your goals. You may have an ultimate and this one should be your end point. To be able to make the journey more fruitful, you can break down your entire course in such a way so that you can achieve smaller goals that will eventually lead to the completion of something bigger and more significant. It is less grueling when you do it this way. Trying to accomplish a big goal is going to be hard, but if you break your goals into smaller sections, you will just surprise yourself one day, and realize that you have already arrived where you

·        Make them realistic. Write goals that are attainable. It is good to dream and to stretch your imagination, a little, but make sure that you goals are not impossible. Make sure that you are physically, mentally and emotionally capable of achieving it. There is no point in wasting time on something that you can never accomplish, anyway.

·        Keep your focus. Once you have established your goals, make sure to keep your focus on it and do not allow yourself to stray away. Move forward, even if the road is rough and treacherous.

You’re not as Depressed as You Think You Are

You’re not as Depressed as You Think You Are Plenty of people out there are depressed with where their life is heading. The economy is ...
