The
Power of Self Confidence
When
you take on a challenge or a task, you are either capable of doing it or you
are not. Your ability to perform is governed by your physical, mental and
emotional ability to cope, but when you simply do not have it in you, you have
to turn to something else. Self-confidence is the invisible drive that allows a
person to break through the barriers. When everyone else is telling you that
you cannot, it is the confidence that you have on yourself that will make a
difference.
The
Importance of Confidence
You
may think that confidence is nothing more than a ticket for a ride, but it is
going to be important for you to work on your self confidence because:
·
It will help you deal
with criticism: Criticism can be quite damaging. If you get a lot of criticism,
it will be powerful enough to derail you and break your spirit or whatever is
left of it. If you have confidence you will have the power to use criticism in
a way that builds you, instead of break you.
·
It will help you shut
out negative energy: Negative energy comes in all forms and you should be able
to shrug them out or at least turn them into something productive.
·
It will help you get
rid of the negative image that you have of yourself: It is normal for people to
be critical of themselves. They hate how they look; they hate their jobs; they
hate their house; they hate their lives. It is normal for people to find things
to pick on, but if you are confident enough, all these incapacities should and
will not matter.
·
It will help you stand
up for yourself: Self-confidence will help you stand up, even when you are
weary. It will help you move forward, even if the journey is tough. It is
enough to keep you from quitting and it is enough for you to make a difference
in your life.
How
to Build Your Confidence
Do
you want to be confident enough to live your life the way you want? Are you
tired of just taking what is being handed to you, and would you like to make a
difference? If you want to build your confidence, here is a process that you
can follow:
·
Find a model. Pick a
person, living or dead, from whom you can draw inspiration from. Your model
should be someone whose life has made an impression on you. Use his or her
experiences to guide you to make the best decisions in life. If he can, so can
you, so just keep on moving until you get there.
·
Learn to act. The first
step is usually the hardest to take. It is not easy to break your normal stance
but you have to start somewhere and usually you do it all by pretending. You
have to act as if you are confident, and soon enough you will convince yourself
for it to be real.
·
Learn to love yourself.
You might have a lot of issues about yourself but you do not have to focus on
those things. Instead, you can choose to learn to love yourself for what you
are and what you are not. Count the things you are good at and keep on
reminding yourself about this.
