The Process of Self Growth

The Process of Self Growth

If you are unhappy with your life, you can choose to sulk in the corner and live your life regretting everything bad that you have, or you can choose to fight back and turn things around. Life is not easy and it is more a struggle than anything else, but you should not be so quick to give up. Growth is a natural life process and as a living being, you should allow yourself to improve and develop. If you are unhappy with your life, you should not settle, instead you should fight.

Embracing the Process

Growth is a process. Individuals go through life first as fetuses in the womb, then as an infant, a toddler, a child, a teenager an adult and finally a geriatric. Personal growth also follows a specific process just like this one.

·        Determine the problem: If your life is not going the way you want it to be, then there should be something wrong with it. You will have to determine where the problem is coming from, so that you can try to fix it. You cannot fix something without knowing what you are dealing with. As soon as you know what you are up against, you can go on and make things happen.
·        Know yourself. To be able to gauge your capacity to see things through, you will need to know yourself better. You need to come to terms with your strengths and weaknesses, so that you can find an efficient way around them, that will enable you to function well.

Being Your Own Self

Growth is measured through different ways. Physical growth is measured easily, but personal growth is more complicated than length, diameter and volume. When you take on the journey to self-growth, you want to be able to go somewhere with it. To measure growth, you have to have some kind of basis, and here are some signs that you have to look for:

·        Make decisions for yourself: Indecisiveness is a good sign of your immaturity. If you are able to make sound decisions on your own, then that means that you are growing.

·        Accept yourself completely: It is not easy for people to come to terms with their individual insufficiencies. It is not east to admit incapacity especially if it will make you look lowly and insignificant. If you achieve self growth, you can efficiently work around your weaknesses.

·        Know how and when to say “yes” and “no”: It is strength and maturity that allows a person to say “yes” to even the toughest of challenges and “no” to things that would harm them. It is one’s maturity that enables them to tell the difference between good and bad, and it is maturity that helps them answer.

·        Unafraid to take risks: People who are weak will cower at challenges because it is safer to stay in a box, where you will be more comfortable. Risks are only for the strong and if you are the type who is ready to go outside boundaries, you are now ready.
