Your Own Self-Help Book
Have you ever read a self help book? A self-help book,
is an instructional or motivational type of literature that is authored by a
psychologist, a survivor or a type of expert. Many of the people who wrote
these books, wrote them as a means to break free from their own situations.
They write the book in retrospect of what has happened, and they take you
through the journey that they took, in an effort to help you go through the
same struggle.
You can write your own self help book, as well. Many
say that writing one can be quite therapeutic. Like a journal, you narrate what
you go through in terms of your mental, spiritual and emotional state, and you
write it down so that when you come out triumphant, in the end, victory will
taste so much sweeter, and it will be more meaningful because you can also
touch other people with your story.
Steps to Follow

Set the mood and
tone. What kind of book are you thinking of writing? Before you begin anything,
you have to make sure to envision your finished product, before anything else,
because this will be your goal. Think of how you are going to do this and plan
well for it. Your book should have a theme and you should be consistent all
throughout. Are you going to write in the first person point of view or are you
going to do it in another way?

Write your
outline. Now that you have planned about what to include in your book, you have
to think of what you want to write. Your outline is going to be your template.
So that you will not lose your flow, you have to plan ahead and think of how
you are going to write the book, even before you start it. Make outline
questions that you will answer as you write and make bullet points that you
will tackle per chapter or section of your book.

Choose your
title. After writing your outline, you have basically written your book
already, so you can already pick a title. Make sure the title is apt for the
book and make sure that it is catchy and relevant. You have to remember that
you title is the first thing that people will encounter. You have to make sure
that your title is good enough to capture your audience and keep them wanting
more.

Write it by
section. Writing a book does not always have to be written by chapter, although
it is advised that you do it that way. You can write your book by sections,
according to your outline. If you are not going to write them in order, it is
okay, just jump to another section where you feel inspired to indulge.
You do not have to be a great writer to be able to
write a self help book. This is not a compelling novel that needs to be
gripping. A self-help book can be a thoughtful account of a person’s struggle
and you can write solely by experience. You do not have to have the best
writing skills, but you need to be able to inspire people to change their
lives.
