The Different Ways You Can Boost Your Self-Esteem

The Different Ways You Can Boost Your Self-Esteem

Some people are born with high self-esteem, and they are quite lucky, but there are some who will have to try a little harder to develop this admirable quality. Self-esteem is the power that gives people the extra push needed to make things happen. When a person is physically, emotionally or mentally incapable of performing something, his or her self-esteem will be the one to make things happen. Self-esteem is the fuel that gets someone going. When a person has high self-esteem, he or she is motivated to move forward. Most of the time, this person is pro-active and has initiative. On the other hand, a person with low self-esteem is going to be weak. He or she may not be physically, mentally or emotionally weak, but the inherent self-esteem issues will hamper productivity and action.

How to Increase Your Self-Esteem

If you are tired of being timid and lacking in self esteem, you can do something about it. Everyone has a potential to shine but most people are only able to achieve a certain level because of their self-esteem. They are hindered by their own ability to accept who they are, and this is detrimental to a person.

If you are tired of living a worthless life and you would want to make a positive change, you can try fixing your personal image:

·        Have respect on yourself. When you respect yourself, you will not allow anyone to belittle you. When you respect yourself, you will not allow yourself to be abused. When you respect yourself, you will regard yourself highly and you will accept and believe that you deserve something more, something great.

·        Be grateful of what you have. Some people love to focus on the things they lack. They love to lament on their misfortunes like counting them every day will ever make a difference. Instead of focusing on what is bad and unfortunate, why should you not focus on the things that will make your realize how special life is? Learn to count your blessing and learn to be grateful of what you have. Do not focus on what you cannot have because it will come, if it is for you. Instead, look at your life and relish what is great about it.

Self-Affirmations

There are so many ways for you to boost your self-esteem so that you can accomplish so much more for yourself. One very effective method is to use self affirmations. These are select words or phrases that you repeat to yourself, usually in the morning when you wake up, to be able to program it in your mind. People believe that by repetition, man is able to condition his mind to think a certain way. By carefully choosing positive self affirmations, you can make yourself think a certain way:

·        When you affirm your confidence, you will learn to be more courageous and stop putting yourself down.

·        When you affirm strength, you are willing yourself to push beyond your limit and you are making yourself believe in your ability to do more than what is expected of you.

·        When you affirm greatness, you convince yourself that what the others are thinking is not true. You make yourself believe that you are a star, and eventually become one.
